Chad Mundie — "Burden," 2021

Chad Mundie looks for the underlying uncanny, absurd, and extraordinary quality of domestic objects, spaces, and interactions. He believes the veil of normalcy in the home is thin, and bizarre feelings can begin to rise with only slight alterations to the balance we try to keep in daily life. His work looks to the mundane as a means of exploring the hidden emotions and experiences associated with familial objects and spaces, things left stagnant so long in an environment that they mutate to directly reflect what they have come to mean to someone.

Chad Mundie (b. 1996, Fredericksburg, VA) lives and works in Richmond, Virginia where he is currently pursuing his MFA in Kinetic Imaging at VCU (2022). He received his BA from University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia (2018). He has shown work at Cherry in Richmond, Rump Gallery’s Film / Video Fest, and Space Gallery in Fredericksburg.
